ABsource Biologics

Why ABsource

What actually changes when the culture is made here.

Five differences that hold up under procurement scrutiny, and the six problems they solve.
  • 01

    The pioneer advantage

Founded in 2014, in commercial production from 2016 — nine years before the national Ready-to-Use Culture plant opened at Anand. That is nearly a decade of production data behind every batch we ship.

    Science-led, not sales-led

Our founders are a scientist and a biotechnologist. The advice you get is grounded in microbiology, and the work starts from your problem rather than from a catalogue page.

  • 03

    Portfolio breadth and customisation

200+ cultures across fifteen product lines, spanning dahi, lassi, a wide cheese range and probiotic foods — plus in-house R&D that builds entirely new cultures from scratch, which an importer structurally cannot do.

    End-to-end partnership

Arrive with an idea and get culture development, plant setup and product safety testing from one company.

    Proven quality and trust

300+ customers, commercial production since 2016, and ISO 9001:2015, ISO 22000:2018, HACCP and HALAL certification.

What we solve

Six reasons plants stay on imported cultures.

Import dependency

Manufacturing here breaks reliance on expensive, often inconsistent foreign supply, and it secures the supply chain against a disruption you cannot control.

Inconsistent quality

Freeze-dried, phage-resistant DVS cultures remove the variability of traditional bulk starters. Bacterial concentration and purity are guaranteed through 24 quality checks.

High production cost

Local manufacture delivers the same standard of culture at a lower price point than imports, which improves your margin directly.

Technical expertise gap

Direct Vat Set means ready to use. No in-house propagation, no specialist propagation skills, far lower contamination risk.

No customisation

Bespoke culture development: our scientists work directly with you to build a unique blend — a creamier dahi, a sharper cheese, a novel fermented beverage.

Fragmented support

Custom product development and turnkey plant consultancy alongside the cultures themselves.

The value

What changes for your business.

These map to how a switch gets justified internally, so take them to the meeting in this order.
Economic
A cost-effective alternative to imported cultures. Improved yield and reduced waste lift profitability directly.
Operational
Ready-to-use DVS simplifies production, reduces batch-failure risk from contamination, and delivers consistent output.
Quality & brand
Consistent taste, texture and aroma let you build brand reputation and hold consumer loyalty.
Innovation
Custom culture development lets you launch products that capture emerging consumer trends before the category does.
Strategic
De-risks your supply chain from global disruption and aligns your brand with Make in India and food security.

Timeline

In production nine years before the national plant opened.

  1. 2014

    ABsource Biologics founded

Established in Pune by Dr. Mukesh Vinze and Mr. Jagannath Sonavane.

  2. 2016

    First commercial DVS range

The first Indian-manufactured Direct Vat Set dairy starter cultures reach commercial production.

  3. 2025

India's national RUC plant opens at Anand

A Ready-to-Use Culture manufacturing plant is inaugurated at Anand, and indigenous starter culture supply becomes national policy. Ready-to-Use Culture and Direct Vat Set describe the same category — the country now agrees India should make its own cultures. We have been manufacturing them here since 2016.
